Hi Paul
First of all, I love octane for rhino plugin. You did a great job.
The color picker in rhino is good, however every time it needs to click "OK" button in order to have the Octane view port updated with picked color.
Is it possible to have instant update in Octane view port without clicking OK in the color picker? This will save some time in repeating the process for fine color tuning.
In case, when Cancelled, it will revert back to the original condition.
How about Octane like color pallet?

Hi - unfortunately the Rhino color picker is "modal" which means the plugin receives no color info until that window is closed (ie. you press OK or Abort). So unfortunately this cannot be done.

This could be done, and would resolve the above issue. I'll add it to the enhancement list for the plugin.

Some more info on this....a color picker may be available in Rhino8 which allows the Octane color to be instantly set when the user selects a new color in the picker (prior to click OK). So this should address your first point.

Regarding adding a plugin specific color picker.....I looked into the viability of this, and it would mean disbanding the Rhino color picker, so the plugin becomes less "Rhino'ish". So it may be a lot of work for something which people do not want. Plus, a new color picker would have picking a color by RGB or HSV, which is exactly what the Rhino color picker does. So looking for more comments from people before committing to this.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for providing in-depth details. I am happy to know about Rhino8 color picker functionality.
May be until then, I would definitely vote for octane color picker by disabling the rhino one.
An option could also be provided in Octane settings to choose "Rhino's Default Color Picker" vs "Octane for Rhino's Color Picker".
Best Regards,
Jitendra.

Rhino8 is Rhino SR8?
If yes, it would be great to wait until then.

No, I think Rhino8. I found a pretty good color picker - will investigate integrating it in the next week or two.

Hi Paul,

I just downloaded new plugin and this color selector is very nice. Great improvements.

However, the instant update still is missing. So, every time it requires to press OK to see the changes. Is there any possibility to have instant update?
Also, it would be great to have a field where we can directly feed in at least RGB values or may be # color codes so that, copying and pasting color is more easy.

Thank you.
Best Regards, Jitendra
