This is the test release

Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new version of OctaneRender™ for Maya®
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2012, 2013, 2013.5 / 32-bit & 64-bit and 2014 64-bit on MS Windows operating systems.

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine
.

HOW TO PURCHASE LICENSES

Go to our online shop here: http://render.otoy.com/shop/

If you do not own an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition License yet:
You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 359€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® Beta License" priced at 199€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses, just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.

OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.

CHANGES AND FIXES SINCE LAST RELEASE:
  • Fixed Diffuse material and Color Correct texture bugs (thanks TBFX).
  • New 1.33 engine.
  • Added new feature: export of animation into OctaneRender Alembic file. The feature is implemented in the first draft, so you can test it...
All animation modes which are implemented in this plugin should work: so e.g. if you will export "Camera only" animation, the size of alembic file will be much less than in other modes. If you will export "Movable proxies" animation with just a few "movable" objects - the size will be less than when exporting "Full" animation mode of the same scene...
Only geometry and camera export is supported so far. Materials, imager, environment etc are not supported at this time, but you can tune them in standalone after export.

Hi JimStar,

So far using your OctaneRender alembic export I have only managed to get one very simple scene to export as alembic to the standalone correctly. Every other scene I have tried gets the camera but no geo (the alembic node has no geometry pin when loaded into the standalone)

I will PM you a scene. The scene exports to alembic as expected if I just use Mayas default alembic export but exports incorrectly as stated above if I use the OctaneRender alembic export option.

same here, the powere options for hdri for the texture environment is not working ~ I had to resort to using the Exposure instead.

older scenes are loading very dark in this new build.

Confirmed here too. In fact I haven't been able to get texture transformations working at all in this version, or any of the new projection methods, though I could just be missing something. Has anyone else had any luck with these?
JimStar wrote:Fixed Diffuse material and Color Correct texture bugs
It seems new diffuse materials created in this version work now but legacy diffuse materials are still not recognised and are converted to gray.
Color Correct is working, thanks.
