hey guys, due to the nature of interaction with he rendered image. I could really use a lock down icon/function, that would inhibit the changing of anything that requires a restart of the render.

something so that when I am trying to "CTRL" move around in my image, but my 'CTRL' key sticks or my finger slips, and I click and drag, I don't lose 30 minutes of rendering :).

not a big problem, but a definite nuisance.

Yes, a lock feature would be nice.

I might add in here that I would like the 'reset view' button in the viewport header moved further away from the 'save image' button...you can guess what happened...

PS Also having the camera reset button next to the save image button is a TOTALLY wrong call!
So many times I go "At last!" and when I try to save I reset and start all over again! (both buttons looks a bit alike)

I think I found you a basic solution\workaraound .. select File/Account preferences - Defaults & Controls and change the Viewport Control Mappings preset to something else like Maxon Cinema4d.. since the default for c4d is alt + mouse drag, the default drag doesn't do anything until you apply the alt key. .actually they got it a bit wrong so mouse scroll to zoom doesn't work on that one, but you can change all of that below.. or just add the optional keys on the right side - try it, works
