As the title says: Is there a way to prevent a material or mesh to receive shadows?

The equivalent in Poser would be to attach the texture map to ALT_DIFFUSE

Hi Wim - this is not possible with an unbiased renderer - since the shadows are part of the scene lighting. One method you could use though would be to delete everything in the scene except the non-shadow prop and render with alpha and save. Then render the same scene without the prop and combine them in postwork.

Or....render the entire scene WITHOUT the shadowless prop and save. Then render just the shadowless prop and alpha background, and load the first render as the background.

Hope I haven't confused you.

That's a pity. It makes a lot of scenery props (like DAZ's cyclorama) difficult to use with Octane.
In my case it was easy to fix. I just scaled the prop up and moved it away outside of reach of the shadows.
