set caustic blur between 0.6 - 1
Core i7 860, ZOTAC GTX 580 - 3GB, 2 x GTX TITAN, 32Gb RAM
they are caused by the caustics, you need a little caustics blur, but too much will remove your caustics all together, as you have found.
How long did you render it for? to get caustics really clean, you need to render it for a while (it's probably the thing that takes the longest to clear up).
One thing that will probably work is to increase your image size, it will take longer to render, but it will be cleaner when done.
