Here's my first lazy test with octane. Tiny bit of PP with Nik and MagicBullet.
It's a scene from Bertrand Benoit. You can buy it here http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/int ... max/643848

Rendered with PT (only 4 maxdepth) in roughly two hours on two Titans (3500px)

This is the material for the glass, even though it has thickness.
I did not wanted to have caustics for the windows. Or is there a better, faster material for it?

Would you place portals? Can I increase the rendering speed somehow?

there is a glass fake falloff in the Live DB that works great (its a glossy material with a falloff texture controlling opacity. looks just like glass but renders faster and doesnt give much or any) caustics

You can use a specular material for the glass, just set it up like normal glass but enable the fake shadows option. Portals probably won't have much advantage with windows this big.
