I was just wondering what the plans for the plugin are since Blender cannot import/export Alembic files. Will this cause problems down the road?

Alembic for Blender has already been worked on some. When it will arrive I am not sure.
I think there is some realisation in the community and among coders that Alembic is important to have now for general cg interchange. I doubt it will be hurried along for Octane use though. Its a waiting game for the moment.
