Hi all,

I thought i saw a post on this but i cant find it.

I am running into a render with lots of props hitting the limit 87 / 68 :( . Are there recomendations to allow me keeping the props and getting around this error? Thanks for any help.

The other question I have is how I kno who wmany greyscale textures my card can support, I have a GTX 770 with 4 gig ram, I actaully dont think i am running out of the greyscale textures as i dont see any missing textures in teh render.

Is this something liste don teh specs of teh card and I assume I have to adjust the default.py settigns accordingly perhaps?

See question 19 at http://render.otoy.com/manuals/Poser/?page_id=182.

The simple solution is a a) remove bump maps off distant objects, or replace the bump map with a procedural texture, and b) switch the node type of some of the bump map from FloatImage to Image (so it uses an RGB slot instead of a Greyscale slot). I plan to add a rightclick command to do b) for you for a particular figure/prop in the near future.

Hi bpzen,

The texture count limitations are in the first item of the FAQ page here (among other places):
http://render.otoy.com/faqs.php

The 770 will be compute 3.0 or above so you will be looking at:
144 LDR (8 bit) RGBA, 68 LDR (8 bit) greyscale, 10 HDR (16 bit) RGBA and 10 HDR (16 bit) greyscale

Thanks
Chris.

Thank you both !

I will mess with teh bump maps on teh hidden objecs I can get it down to with in teh 68

Is that a limitation of Octane or teh Videio card?

For large scens thats a drag to deal with but mehhh at least there is a work around

Mostly hardware, this texture count comes from CUDA and can change depending on the compute capability of the card.

Thanks
Chris.

What are you current limits on Cuda 7 and 8 on the 9 and 10 series? (Including RGB) I can't find info on this.

There are no limits on the number of texturemaps you can have.
