I've played a bit with Octane for C4D. I'm impressed by the speed and quality of Octane, and easy setup it has. I downloaded C4D Combo .99f. I find octane material editor in C4D has a lot of bugs, and it's hard to make a good material in easy way. I tried Octane standalone material editing and I'm impressed. It's comfortable and very fast. Is there a chance, that we have this comport workflow inside C4d? Is it possible and easy to create materials in Standalone ando open it in Cinema?
Right now it is the wickest point of Octane for C4D in my opinion.
Materials and GUI in Octane C4D

what kind of bugs you find? Hardness is different for everyone. Mostly don't like the standalone. Next versions has several improvements and simplifications on gui system. Also there is a node editor. But it's still development and going slow.
Standalone editing can be possible, but i'm not sure for convenience. This can cause some broken features.

Hi Aoktar
Thanks for your reply.
I'm really impresed by Octane, but in the same time I'm affraid if I can join it to my everyday workflow on Cinema 4d. I've done just first tests. Some features work great, I just had most of the problems with materials. I'm not sure, if there are bugs, or my mistakes. I worked a lot with materials in MAxwell and in Cinema, but Octane for c4d material editing is really not clear for me and unconvinient. I could'n define alpha masked material for example, I don't know why. I tried many things. I used jpg alpha image in opacity slot and nothing happend. The same with power and gamma values, sometimes it works, sometimes not. It's good that you are working to make it simplier. It would be great to have some meterials for Octane c4d already done, to see examples. There is a free access to material database for Maxwell Render, why I can not download Octane materials different type in demo mode. It is the best way to learn something.
Do you think that I can get the newest plugin in demo mode to check new features?

For gui, there was a few irritating problem on sliders, etc.. Mostly better now. But i'm not sure that's you said. We are working on new api and still not ready a demo. But sure, i'll do when it's. Also Octane is completely node based you know, but C4D has some problems with this. I'm trying to do better on every version. Next versions may have better material workflow.
For Images, you should ImageTexture and it has three mode. Color, Float, Alpha. Alpha is for using the image's alpha channel. Also you should set power of image to 1.0.
For material Database, i don't know why Otoy don't allow to acces in demo. But you can check some examples, maybe helpfull.
