Great work, very nicely done.

Sad storyline though :(

Honest critique: it's really good, especially due to the limited resources and use of open source software. (eg other tools than blender were used too)
however, i told ton this a few times already, the BF GPL movie projects are cool for blender, but they need to find a new 'unique' concept, as this has already been seen 4-5 years ago (similar technogoly, story, ambience and quality)

I hope the next BF film project has a more unique and original story and better voice acting (although it's way better than emo and proog.

Hat's off to ton, the team, and brecht who worked on it too, it's a nice short film.

Apparently the next film might use camera tracking tools...
I'm planning a short film which will use camera tracking and Blender, but I sort of really need alpha support in Octane, too :/

I was one of the lucky few who saw this at Siggraph. I agree it is great, but suffers from the blender render engine a great bit. I love blender, and am an avid user, so don't get me wrong. Ton and I, and a few other blender people, talked at great lengths about Octane and Blender during our Siggraph after hours poolside hangouts. I'd love to try porting the film to Octane, but at the time of Siggraph this wasn't possible due to the export bugs in Blender 2.5x. I've been meaning to try it again, but have just been too pre-occupied with other programming work (and normal work too). Ton did say that he wants the next blender project to include camera tracking in some way, but that he doesn't want to do another project for awhile, so things could always change. But I refuse to take speculation as fact, so we'll just have to wait and see when he announces something.

What does Ton think about octane in general?

How do they do their hiring for their projects? Do they just scout out for talent? Because I'm currently exploring visual effects with Blender (and Octane, when alpha support is implemented) quite heavily, and was thinking of the possibility of helping out with the next project.

For what I remember, they ask for a demo reel or a website with good content.

Maybe i could apply for the project AFTER mango.
That will be in 6-7 years.
It would be awesome because i would have finished my VET/High school/Tafe studys, with a Advance deploma (3D) in my hands. ;)
Plus that is seven years of blender and maya experience.
Have to wait and see ;)

Colin(director)downloaded blender when he was 13 and he is now around 22.
