Dear Otoy,

I'm a mac user and I purchased 9 months ago the Octane render plugin for DAZ Studio. I purchased it by mistake, because in your web site there was no listing of what OS and DAZ versions the plugins works with. I have noticed you are developing a lot of plugins and I would like to know if the promised Mac version is in the works or not.

Thanks,

Fabio E. N. Frau

P.S: I wrote to OctaneRender™Support on october 22th 2013 and I haven't received no answer yet.

sorry that you haven't got an answer from otoy yet;

about the info in the shop: i can't remember if os versions were listed back then, at least they are now - so again sorry if it wasn't the case when you bought the plugin!

and to say it clear: a mac version is still several months off, and afair i haven't promised one ever since, or that it will appear anytime soon - sorry the 3rd.

if you don't want to wait any longer, and/or have no use for octane without the plugin, please write me a pm, i'll try to arrange something with otoy...

Hi t_3,

it's not an easy choice for me. My problem is the following: I'm working on a animation project and I'm using Daz Studio + the Reality render plugin. Reality is based on lux render: the quality is good but the speed is not the max.
Apart my mac pro, I could use a Lenovo notebook. It's a 32 bit notebook and the video card is :

NVIDIA QUADRO FX 570

Here you can see the technical info about this card:

http://www.tomshw.it/cont/articolo/sche ... qOFEaW4HSc

I think it's Cuda compatible:

https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-gpus

but I don't know if this card is quite enough powerful for Octane Render. What do you think about it?
I could install Daz Studio win 32 bit, Octane render standalone, octane daz plugin and try to render my animations, but I would like to know if it's acceptable or not as a temporary expedient.

The alternative is to wait 1 year or more for the Mac plugin. :?

well, afaik it is no longer supported since octane 1.0, and even if it still was it is so low on power and vram, that it won't be of much use :(

i'm going to check something else that just came into my mind - don't expect too much though; i'll keep you posted...

Although this is an exporter and older than dust, testers reported it working on Mac and other platforms. Can you confirm that it is still compatible and maybe an update is in order. I do know that it still works on the PC with DS 4.6.
