Again received a Windows 7 Pro update with Nvidia drivers 327.23. I had resisted the upgrade but finally took the plunge thinking it would resolve an issue I had with my monitor. Have had a couple of computers lock ups since then, totally unrelated to Octane but I just wanted to know what is everyone else using since my main concern with this Nvidia drivers is performance of DAZ Studio and Octane. In case the lock ups continue I want to know which version(s) works well with DAZ Octane.

I'm using the latest nvidia drivers, downloaded last week. No problems at all. I had a similar problem last year, i thought it was my drivers, but it was my card, my fan had stopped working and the cards were overheating, which caused my monitors to freeze up. Download something to check you card temperatures and see if that is the cause.

Thanks for the reply but I have software monitoring the cards so I know its not my cards. Anyways it hasn't happen again so knock on wood it won't happen plus it happened when the computer was coming out of sleep when it was cold so again it couldn't be the cards. Any chance you could post your driver number?

regarding wake up crashes: gpu drivers are usually a "good" point where this happens; i suffer from that myself but most probably because of new ssd's (works 1 out of 3 times = utterly useless); i'm using 327.23 also for a while now, but afair had these lock ups already earlier. could be still related. afaik 331.65 would be the last whql version available directly from nvidia.

in general there is no good answer to the question what drivers to use, as problems may occur just because of a particular system config, regarding octane there is imo not much difference between the latest 3 or 4 versions...
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply

1x i7 2600K @5.0 (Asrock Z77), 16GB, 2x Asus GTX Titan 6GB @1200/3100/6200
2x i7 2600K @4.5 (P8Z68 -V P), 12GB, 1x EVGA GTX 580 3GB @0900/2200/4400

Thank you T_3, if that is what you have I think I'll try not to upgrade unless it locks up again, which thank god doesn't seems to be the case. I also have an Intel 180GB SSD as my OS drive but I'm ruling that out since I've had that since last November and so far no problems. I had an OCZ Vertex 30GB as my OS drive in an old Vista system and that was a real nightmare, I ended up transferring it to a 7200 1TB hard drive and what a difference in stability.

So the only recent change in my computer are those drivers but for now no lockups so lets hope it was only a hiccup since it happened only twice, while running a java photo album from a website and upon waking up from sleep.
