Hi everyone,

we are currently testing different engines in the office in this time. And, we seriously consider Octane render to fit into our pipeline. Despite being a really fast engine, it also produces very good quality compared to other renderers on the market. You can definitely touch the light in Octane.

We just have one main concern about render passes. Are there any plans to extend the render passes ( or info channel ) ?
It would be great to access at least proper mask options, as well as direct light, reflection, refraction and all classic passes that one may use in a 3D Studio.

Best,
Arnaud

Unfortunately, this is one of MANY missing features that everyone is craving for and that are absolutely necessary for professional work...

There is an upcoming 1.5 version that will have a lot of changes and features added. They havent said what they are for several reasons. One being that they dont want to promise somethign that might not get finished in time and they also dont want to tell their competitors what they are working on.

I have no idea if this is something coming up, but I'm hoping it is. Also, I have no idea when the next version is coming out.
