No phone number or customer support, I got ripped off. What a wait of money. I know lots of illustrators in the industry and will never refer these guys this program.

Phone number, They should have used my money to purchase a phone number so I don't have to go to a stupid forum to post a question. I'm available 24 7 to my customers. Oh and I'm still waiting for some reply. Doubt very much they will ever call me.

Well, you attitude is not the best either.

I never had any complain, they always returned my answers, and we don't usually see people complaining about support. So its hard to believe in your words.

from what i can see you have 2 posts in the forum, both are bad, no question just accusation.
You probably sent a email to support right?
If you explain you problem we might help...

Well good luck, but swearing and kicking doors wont lead you anywhere.

best regards

Wow, so for whatever reason YOU can't "get it to work" it's Otoy's problem and the software sucks. That's funny. I've been running a studio with it pretty much since the day I bought it last December. Works like a dream. It's still relatively new so it's missing some minor and a few major features, but it's by far my favorite rendering find of the decade.

Maybe you should spend a little time working with it before declaring it crap. It is not. Sometimes it's the artist not the brush.

Peace-

It's very simple. You buy a program and you expect it to work next time you run it. Nothing has changed but now it tells me that my other computer needs to be de-authorized. Don't have one with this on it. To wait 30 minutes after I do that and then try again. Waited all day still no reply from Support. I have bought many programs and rarely do I ever call or need support after it's in my computer. So if the program needs to be logged into the internet for it to work then when I'm traveling I'm pretty much screwed. But I wouldn't know that cause no one answers my emails. Sent three. No call. I've uninstalled and re installed and still same thing comes up. Deactivated everything but to no avail it keeps telling me I have another computer somewhere with it on. I forget what I spent on this program , possibly a few hundred dollars. For that kind of money I should have gotten a CD with a code. I have other programs this way and have spent thousands on them. I doubt very much they will call me or get an email.

As for my words of frustration, well, I apologize. I have deadlines to meet and if a tool like this doesn't perform when it supposed to then I freak because my time is money. Money which these guys have now and I don't. Only alternative is to uninstall this crap program and find one that works and has support. I was only able to render one thing a few months ago and it was half as good as I thought it was going to be. I still had to buy an environment because I didn't see anything decent in the program worth much.

I just want to voice out my opinion, but one should know better
the product that he is buying before even complaining. In the first place
that you got your licence you should be aware that the licencing
works that way in octane. That you have to activate deactivate the software
before you can use it in one computer or the other.

Only on one computer. I heard about this from a person who is an illustrator and thought it was good. I looked at all the videos before I bought and it seemed pretty simple but trying to get it to work again after a few months of in activity when under a time line is very frustrating. Similar to knowing your car is outside in the driveway and a few months ago it was brand new. Then you get in because your late for a meeting and the key doesn't start the car. You own it, you had it running, it's legally yours , you just can't drive it cause the key is wrong even though it's been sitting all this time in the driveway. Little sound comes on telling you that this is not your car and to find the car you really own and try to drive it to your meeting. But you don't have another car.

You know why there are forums? So companies don't have to have someone on staff to answer questions. Why would people have questions? Because the programs aren't either clear or have left out some important information so you come back and pay for support. So what happens, and I've been around a long ass time, is people who use the program learn it the hard way and eventually find fixes or get around. The companies know this and create forums so they are off the hook. How do I know? I have a friend who works for such a company and knows there are things not in the manual and not known any other way but to call in and ask. Corel Draw is one and Rhino 3D is the other. There are more.
