OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin. Windows x64 version.

Image

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Added new Blender space editor type: "Materials LiveDB". So far I've not made the material obtaining asynchronous - so when you press the "Get material" button, the UI will stuck during material downloading from server. I will improve it in later versions...
  • Added material preview feature. As OctaneServer is not able to render two sessions in parallel - if you will take the material preview rollout open, you will not be able to start live render or F12 render before material preview will be ready (it renders at 100 samples per pixel).
  • Minor bug fixes...
After starting OctaneServer it will take some time before the LiveDB tree and LiveDB material previews will be available from Blender - as OctaneServer caches the LiveDB data from remote server right after starting. But only the materials groups tree will be re-cached every time after server start, LiveDB material preview images will be cached only once - so only the very first OctaneServer start will need some more time before LiveDB tree will be available in Blender.

WOW! Works great!!! :)

It took me a little bit to find the LiveDB, but it's very intuitive. screenshot

AND it seems to render much faster(?) 5sec for a displaced object 200 samples....I'll have to
test it against the previous version.

Thanks JimStar! :)

That's really cool!!!

ahh now I understand, you have to be logged in,
as you would want to read the licence information, and download where its to be normally expected,
and than move again to the forum here and download from the links you provided.

In the user-area distributives appear only after testing, so the very last versions first appear here on the forum. So, if you want to be "on the bleeding edge" - track the last versions here.;)

Check please if the scene or installation filepaths contain national symbols, it may be the reason... I will improve these routine things in next versions...

Hi JimStar, I get materials and preview in preview window but not in the LiveDB window.

But a great step for Blender for Octane. :D

Cheers, mib.
