Hello.
I've tested the plugin (1.20) and it seemed to be ok.
Now I've bought it, and tried to work on a medium-size project (2315 Elements) made in AC 16 64 Bit.
The plugin starts up and I can open the viewport; OC checks the materials and it's possible for me to change ONE of the materials from AC 16 to one of the Live-database.
But whenever I try to change an second material the plugin and AC 16 are crashing immediately.
I've tried that several times, cleaned up the tmp-files on my HD, re-booted the PC. No changes.
AC version is 3827, graphics driver is ver 326.80.
So I'm a little bit disappointed because it's not possible to get any 3D-renderings from within AC 16 using octane. (tried to export the file using the exporter in AC 16 but when I open it in Octane standaloe the geometry seems to be broken)
Btw, Octane standalone 1.20 is running fine without any crashes.

Hello - this definitely shouldn't be happening. What version of the plugin are you running pls? Can you provide the exact steps you are taking which are producing the crash? Can you pls send the crashdump (as per the release thread in this forum). paul at physicalc-software dot com.

Hello Paul,
It's version 1.20.1.6 64 Bit.
I'll try to find the crashdump and send it to you but I don't know where I can find it so I'll have to look for it.

The thread here....http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=34210 details the location of the crash dump reports. I'm particular interested in the steps you took to get the crash - and if it is reproduceable, then I can replicated the issue on my development PC an provide a fix. The fact that no one else has reported the problem is puzzling.

...maybe it's a problem with the geometry of the Archicad-file itself. Although AC itself doesn't crash when I'm working on the project.
I've exported the file as a 3DS-file and rendered it in Lumion 3.1 (I've made some animations and stills with Lumion but I think the results using octane are much better) without any problems but after that I've added some details to the file. And I've added some complicated 3d-structures using Archiglazing and CiGRaph Archistair 2.
There are some difficult details of the steel construction (it'a a museum for ships, one part is about 250 m's long, 28,80 m's wide and 14,40 m's high with some difficult parts and some spiral stairways) - maybe that causes the crash?
I'll send the dumpfile later - in the moment I'm very busy in my job.
Thank you.
Best regards
Mathias

Hi Mathias
I haven't seen complex geometry cause an issue for the plugin yet (but that's no to say it's not the problem). If there is a reproduceable crash, the cause will usually be the last thing you do before the crash. If you have a scene which you can always reproduce the crash on, pls send it to minvestigate.

...I've tried to work on a smaller project, made in AC 16.
I could load it into the viewport of octane and change ONE material, applying a wooden mat from the LiveDB. But when I tried to change some other material - bang! - AC crashed immediately. I think it's related to the materials. Octane tries to load it from the DB and then there must be some problems. I can send you the AC-file if necessary. I guess all the materials are standard mats so you should be able to open the file in your AC16 without any problems.

...I'm still testing.
I found out that there are (still) no crashes if I set the Kernel to "directlighting" instead of "pathtracing" or "pmc". So maybe it's a problem with my graphics board?
I don't have these problems in the standalone octane.

I would be surprised if it is related to the render kernel - since 1.20.1 version of the plugin is using the same render engine as Octane Standalone 1.20. And a GTX 770 should be compatible with everything in Octane. But any info you can provide will be useful....

I'm working in a project (a park about 40.000 m2) and I have a lot of crashes too! I'm working with the last version 1.20.6 and the last core of the octane. What can I do? Before I haven't problems, I have made render with maxwell with no problem so I think (very slow of course). What is the more stable core?
