Hi,

Sorry if I might sound outdate but before I purchase the license, here are a few question :

1. Can the resolution go above 4000 X 4000?
2. How about the camera angles, can we lock a certain angle or is it always on "orbit" mode? can we create a new camera angle?
3. Can we save the alpha channel for each image?
4. I am running on 64bit , no problems right?

thank u very much

Hi,

1. up to 8192x8192, but you need a GPU with a large amount of memory for this. we recommend a 2GB GTX460 or so.
note that 2.2 only goes to 4096x4096 but the new 2.3 pre releases available to customers go to 8192x8192 max.

2. not in the octane UI at this time (although we're working on it) but you can use a plugin and export any camera angle from your host app, if a plugin exists for it. (max, maya, modo, XSI, blender, lightwave, c4d currently)

3. not with the current stable 2.2, but an alpha channel will be in the final 2.3 release coming soon. there are however tricks to create a black and white mask for compositing in the octane UI.

4. 64bit builds are the best and allow you to load bigger scenes. we recommend using 64bit win7 currently.

Hi,
Radiance, with this gtx 460 2gb how many polygons can you render for a 4000x4000 resolution? Is there a formula to calculate number of maximum polygos per Vram or something?
TIA

Hi,

Not really, it depends on your model.
architecture is usually more demanding than say characters.

a 1GB card can accomodate approx 4-5 million polys.
we are working on optimizing memory usage when the final 2.3 comes out.
we're hoping for a 25-30% decrease in geometry memory usage.
