Here is another low effort / high visual impact model from me. Nothing more than a sphere with a scaled flat top and three cylinders stuck into it :) Modeled in MoI, it is the Coventry stool by Studio Dunn. Just something simple to get my desired MoI > Maya > Octane work-flow nailed down. I am happy to say that I think I got it all squared away now :)

i have a small question..

Can Maya read MOI files ??? if i am not wrong ,MOI saves in .IGES or .3dm file...

also, what is a benefit of "MoI > Maya > Octane" work flow instead of "MOI >.obj export > Octane" ???

I am Using Maya for the UV-mapping of textures. I export from Moi as OBJ.

MOI saves in .IGES or .3dm file...
MoI save .3dm, .iges, .step, .obj, .stl, .lwo, .fbx, .skp, .ai :D
When saving polygonal, it save vertices normal => direct perfect smooth
Octane can read that directly.

which file format you prefer while exporting from moi to be imported to Maya ?

As I said, OBJ. Here is a link to a PDF that PhilBo was good enough to make and provide, explaining proper export setting for OBJ. It was meant as a direct MoI to Octane pipeline, but it works well with Maya there in the middle too.
