Hi all,
We're very happy to inform you that the OctaneRender for Blender integrated plug-in is ready to be tested in a closed beta and will be released in a few weeks as an ongoing beta program product. We'd like to set up a small group of 5 Blender users to help us test the new plugin product before we release it.
Beta testing candidates should have extensive experience with Blender, as well as being experienced OctaneRender users. These people will also need to be established forum users from our community and will have to sign a non-disclosure agreement prior to becoming part of the beta group.
Please see this thread for more details on the progress of the Blender plugin which includes screenshots and videos: http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=27350
If you think you have what it takes, and would like to participate, please reply to this thread and introduce yourself and your experience with Blender and the OctaneRender Standalone.
We will pick the 5 participants once we have enough applicants. In return for your help in testing the new product, you will receive a free copy/license of it, which you can keep when the beta testing period is over.
Cheers,
the OTOY NZ team

Guys! I really would like to!
My lastest projects — this https://vimeo.com/68367070 ( https://vimeo.com/68758548 ) , this https://vimeo.com/42811239 ( https://vimeo.com/44063070 ) for example are made with Blender + Octane Standalone, so it would be nice to put the new integration to the test.
BUT... In two days I go to the vacation for a while (about two weeks)...

Good to see it arriving at last.
A closed beta followed by an ongoing beta... don't quite understand that.
If I was more competant with complex rendering I would try out for it. Better to let people with fluency in nodes tackle this I think. Good luck

Hi I am in. I have been using Blender since before 2.49. I have been one of Octanes first clients when it was initially launched through refractive software. We have utilised these applications in commercial render work for several architectural development projects. We have seen both these product grow and grew with them. We would be able to contribute in a artistically testing capacity. Attached one example of renders made with these two software only (more examples on http://www.piq.co.za/piq_003.htm). We visit the forums weekly and we participated with the test release candidates regularly. We herewith respectfully request to be part of your of your testing programme.
I think just some wrong naming here confuses you.pixelrush wrote:A closed beta followed by an ongoing beta... don't quite understand that.

Any software goes first through the alpha-stage, when it works OK in simple developer's testing, but it is not ready to be released for real work without first hard testing of real users. As some first bugs which lie on the surface should be found in real work by first alpha-testers and fixed by developer...
After this stage - some rare bugs which were not caught during the alpha-stage may still exist, but in this stage the product can be already released as "beta" for some lower price, and these rare bugs can be fixed basing on reports of beta users.
So, the plugin is ready for the first of these stages at the time.
wow! I am a Blender user ! I am happy to see that octane will do this! Great!!!!
Hi! I would like to participate in beta testing
I'm an architect and cg artist. I worked for some time in several Polish post-production studios as modeler, texture/rendering artist and animator. From short time I'm owner a small animation studio "Renderberry" (commercial spots, arch vis animation - modo and blender3d). I'm blender user since 2001, octane since 2011 (mainly arch vis.) No web site yet, sorry. http://www.youtube.com/user/szczyglo74

If I am not too late then I'd like to be considered for testing. I work as a software engineer so software testing is an everyday thing to me.
I've been using Blender for about 6 years and Octane for almost 3. I did some work with Lionel when he introduced the new Blender to Octane exporter and helped him iron out some of the bugs.
