Hi all,
that's my first attempt in product visualization. Decided to recreate my own espresso machine (it makes great espresso by the way :) ).
3DS Max 2011 and Octane 2.2 were used. Each picture was obtained through blending a daylight pass and a texture/HDRI pass in Photoshop to get rid of the fireflies.
The original output is 4x the size of these images and than down sized to 800x480 to get rid of the aliasing.
Tried the pre 2.3 Octane but encountered the known already problems.
Approximate time for 3200x1920 daylight passes was 90 minutes.
Approximate time for 3200x1920 HDRI passes was 150 minutes.

Cheers.

Nice, why to combine those HDRI and SUN passes? It is very time consuming and needs additional work in PS...
I usually use only HDR maps and it works great for me (with my 8800 ;-))

Thanks _pepis,
I go with Sun and HDRI passes because I like having both hard shadows (from Sun) and HDRI lighting. Combining them into one serves two purposes- gets rid of the fireflies and allows to controll how much of both will be present in the final shot.

Cheers mate.
