Hi,

I would like to post my first turntable with the Octane renderer. It is an old converted NURBS model I made some years ago with Maya 5.

Thanks for your feedback!

@ iknowmedia

I will post a hi-res picture today. I am not happy with the tessellation of some elements - It does not look good in hi-res. When I have time, I will try to fix it in modo. I do not use Maya anymore (too expensive for me :-( , so I cannot do a better NURBS-conversion of the original data.

@ radiance

I would be proud to post the animation on your site. I first want to contact the author of the HDR-Image, I used. It comes with modo for free but I think it is just fair to ask him, if he wants to be credited, because it ist so important for this scene.

Here it is:

You should make an alpha mask pass in octane and use it to remove the hdr in the background, it lowers the quality of the shot as the bg is ugly and the model fits very badly.

Shame realy, hope you will fix this.

You a right.
I did not consider to render an alpha pass yet first because I am one of the lucky guys, who has problems with the turntable function (random bad frames). I needed several "render runs" to get 360 frames without errors and was a little annoyed.

For one single frame, the situation ist different of course.

I will ask a moderator to move this to the WIP section. The model was just intended for my first steps with octane but now I am motivated to spend more time on the scenery.

I love the feeling of it. It reminds me of BioShock for PC...ancient, adventurous.
