I think you have to rotate the original particles of 90°, because the pebbles are all pointing up and it is not logical due to gravity, and most probably very uncomfortable for the feet ! I wouldn't like to walk here !

They look too perfect, isnt there a random size/rotation?
Also, do the same thing with some grass/ weeds sparsely thrown around and it will look much more natural.
