Hi all,

Strange thing happening to me, I have seen render times spike to really ridiculous times. I was rendering images that were taking 2-4 hours now showing 18 hours (estimated) fora 1200x900 res image.

I set up a real simple shot, 700 meg is used on the 4 gig card, and thought that maybe I had too much in my set up for the image but a simple face shot with no props is showing 4 hours now. I rebooted the PC no luck.

.4 mill triangles
10 meshes
Daylight
res 1200x900

Any ideas on where/what I can look to figure this out, is there a way to reset factory defaults?

which version of the plugin do you have. If it is 1.13u you might take a look under cuda devicesand see if GPU priority blocks is ticked and if your priority is set to high or low.

Sorry to derail this topic here, but just one quick question @Witpapier.

Have you tried the benchmark scene from here (general discussion forum)?
If so, what result you get with a GTX670, please?

I'm on the lookout for a new video card and can't decide yet, which one to get (or hold out even longer, for the next gen./updated nvidia cards)
While in general I'm happy with my GTX570, the 1.2GB ram is really a struggle, when trying to render a fully clothed figure in an environment like a room or something.

Ill run it quick. Have you tried running the python script that comes with the plugin that compresses the textures.

Ah, good thinking. I haven't done this yet. Might be worth a try.

A daylight render should be pretty fast.

Have you installed something else that could be using your graphics card?

Has anything else changed? Did you upgrade video drivers, change hardware, etc?

Is it possible you have somehow underclocked your card? Use TechPowerUp GPUZ to check your clock rates are OK.

Is Octane Standalone running slow too? Download the benchmark scene are render it to check samples per sec.

Try switching OFF "Use Priority" for your card. Remember to click the "Apply" button to set it.

thanks Paul, nothing new for drivers or software or even win updates. I am seeing about 1 hour = 1000 passes, seems higher than what i was seeing last week but maybe its something in my scne i can start to remove stuff and try narrow it down

Its 1 Light emitter - night time setting and I have a HDRI set up also

I will try the default render and see how i match up to it.

Whats a good recommendation for number of passes, im letting things run to about 6000, should i go higher or lower or fro phot realistic renders is that good?

thanks
