Hi,
I am a new Octane user.
Currently I am running Octane with DAZ Plugin on a laptop with GT540M 1GB.
I plan to buy a machine for Octane (mainly for Octane render), currently I have 2 models in mind:
- a laptop with GT730M 4GB DDR3 (cost $1100)
- a desktop with GTX640 4GB DDR3 (cost $1700)
Both are having 16GB RAM, and i7 3rd gen, but i think will be irrelevant as Octane only need more powerful nvidia card.
Hope some one can give me some suggestions.
Thanks

Hi, the GTX 640 is not a big step performance wise, special the DDR 3 series.
16 GB RAM is suitable but 1700$ seams a bit high for such a system.
For example for 1000 € you can get a GTX 670 4 GB system with i5 3570K:

And germany is expensive for hardware.
A GTX 670 is 3-4 times faster than a GTX 640.
Cheers, mib.
