Been trying to find a slider to scale the carbon fiber in the LiveDB any pointers on how to get this looking correct on a model?
TIA

This either looks like the model is not correctly UV mapped, OR you need to turn on smoothing (and make sure there are normals), OR try changing your rayepsilon.

OK Using 3ds MAX as the exporter works better but I still see no way to scale the size down. Ray epsilon slider does not effect it.face_off wrote:This either looks like the model is not correctly UV mapped, OR you need to turn on smoothing (and make sure there are normals), OR try changing your rayepsilon.

Manual says
6.5 Render Looks Strange or Gives Unexpected Results
Problem: Concentric circles over the image or unusual effects
including bump map not working
Solution: Check the scale of the imported scene and change the
rayepsilon value. Typically this is due to the scale being
incorrect by a factor of 100 or 1000X. Octane expects 1
unit in the scene to equal 1 meter. Adjust export settings
in the modeling application or adjust the import settings.
in OctaneRender™.
My Max export settings seem correct but how would I know what scale the 3ds model is before exporting?

Have you tried adjusting the scale slider on the texturemaps in the carbon fiber material?

I am sure I am doing it wrong, I chose the carbon fiber with the object picker but I dont see a scale slider. Where would i find the scale slider on the texturemaps in the carbon fiber material?face_off wrote:Have you tried adjusting the scale slider on the texturemaps in the carbon fiber material?

It is inside "Texture Macro" - which is the normal map.

Took a little doing but figured it out. Apparently the scaling requires a right click on the Texture Macro which allows you to "edit in graph editor" that did the trick, thanks allface_off wrote:It is inside "Texture Macro" - which is the normal map.

Thank you Chris. One more, Is there a simple way to wrap an object with carbon the fiber material correctly in LiveDB? I have tried the scaling but in this instance it does not make a difference.FooZe wrote:Also you should be able to double click the texture macro that is attached to the normal input and this should open up just like the material macro did, exposing the composition of the macro.
Thanks
Chris.
