Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new version of OctaneRender™ for Maya®
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2013.5 / 32-bit & 64-bit on MS Windows operating systems.

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®. Materials from the Live DB are currently not available.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine
.

HOW TO PURCHASE LICENSES

Go to our online shop here: http://render.otoy.com/shop/

If you do not own an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition License yet:
You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 279€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® Beta License" priced at 99€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses,
just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.

OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.

CHANGES AND FIXES SINCE LAST RELEASE:
  • New 1.13 engine.
  • Fixed "Matte" attribute bug.
  • Fixed swatches refresh bug.
  • Added the command-line switches to batch render to switch up to 8 GPUs.
  • "Importance sampling" checkbox added to texture enviroment settings.
  • Minor bug fixes...

Hi Jimstar

Thanks for the new release - its like christmas :)
Congratulations for being an otoy team member now!

It came to my attention, that something with the light engine must have been changed since last version. All renderings of the scenes made with the earlier version are darker as usual. Is there anything, I have to change, to get the lighting back, as it was?

Best regards
Cyr

Please, can you post some images to we can see the difference in your scene?.. Or perhaps the scene where you see this difference?..

Attached a picture with the difference shown (please be aware, that the amount of samples are not the same). The floor seems to reflect less, but maybe thats because of the missing light.
If you like, I'll send you my scene file.

Thanks for the update JimStar.

So I suppose now that you joined the octane render team to work on the Blender plugin, the priority for an OSX version is even lower, if there was even one to start with? It would be nice to have some sort of official statement regarding the OSX maya plugin.

Thanks,

cr

Not lower. Just not all is depend on me regarding the OSX version. So the Blender plugin work was started before I've joined Octane team, to not spend the time waiting for OSX support for plugins will be ready - as it is a lot of work for engine developers to implement this support. And Blender users want to be happy too.;)
Don't worry, I've joined Octane team not only for the Blender plugin, there is a lot of work as you see. And I work fast. So, just be a little patient please, and all will be done little by little...;)
