I cannot find the option/possibility to save the octane scene for a future edit outside of Archicad.
I like to combine models from different sources in the OR editor.

At this point it is not possible to export Archicad scene to an ocs file to open in Octane with all nodes setup by plugin.
If you really need to go to Octane for combining with other obj's, you can export from Archicad to an obj,
But then in Octane standalone you can import the obj and you have to apply the materials from start again.
In the plugin you can export your material used and import them in Octane standalone to save time re-applying the materials in the ocs. It is doable if you don't have too many materials, because you don't have to tweak the materials anymore.

In future "Proxies will be in soon enough remove the need for exporting to ocs."
@face__off, please do correct if I am wrong.
Probably in future we can place null objects and replace them with external obj's!

To make it complete scattering possibility would be awsome, but I am not sure how and when.

Exporting to OCS is the most frequent enhancement request that all the plugins get. We are hopeful this will be possible soon, but it's not available at the moment. For importing OBJ's proxies into ArchiCAD, this is planned for the next month or so. The actual loading of the OBJ is trivial, however it's the setting of the materials for the OBJ that is proving time consuming to implement. Instancing is also planned, and should be relatively easy to implement. In summary, you will select a scene element (could be the ground), and the plugin will generate a certain number of transform instances randomly, or you can load an existing transform file. See the Poser plugin for how this will work. Should be great!

Thank you for reply. Is there any way to at least get the Octane enhanced obj export?

Hi - I'm not absolutely certain what you are referring to here. Can you be more specific pls?

Today I saved an Archicad file as a obj file to import in the Octane standalone
and I had troubles with some complex shaped not being exported well,
The shapes were totally twisted and messed up and unusable.
The same Archicad file is perfectly shown in the plugin,
So it looks like the translation within the plugin is working much better then the Archicad saving to an obj.
Maybe that is why cyb means that a good enhanced obj exporter would be a great tool.
(like the Sketchup exporter to mtl/obj I used some times?)
@cyb, do yo mean fromout the plugin or as a seperate tool?

When exporting from a plugin to OCS happens (at some point in the future), the plugins version of the geometry will be exported to the OCS - so that will mean the AC plugin good handling of the geometry will be preserved when you open the OCS in Octane Standalone :-) But this is a few versions away.

rappet - that's exactly what I had in mind. I'm not sure how the plugin is handling the export process, but there is some conversion happening already.
Is it converting to obj or ocs? I don't know.
I have noticed that there are the ocs files for all textures being exported, but nothing for the model file. Probably it is being written directly to RAM.
All I'm asking for is to write it to the cache folder too. It would help a lot.

For maximum speed, and minimum load times, the plugin takes the ArchiCAD geometry from ArchiCAD and loads it directory into Octane. It doesn't go via OBJ or OCS (these would take much more time). Otoy is working on the facility to write to OCS from the plugins, so this will be possible at some point in the future, but not at the moment.
