I'm working with quite a heavy model originally designed in sketchup and imported to max. About two weeks ago, the project and file was in a draft stage, still relatively heavy however, yet it managed to render fine with octane (though it did take quite a while to process the geometry before rendering). Now that the project is nearly finished, i've brought it into max again, with the same settings and camera as before but the render opens to a black screen stating 'Warning Render is Failed'.
I'm using one GTX 570 at the moment, the 64 bit version of Max 2013, Octane 1.12 and have 16gb of ram.
Anyone any idea what's causing this? Have I simply reached the memory limitations of my gtx 570? How can I tell if memory limitation is the problem? And finally, would another 570 or 580 likely solve my worries? I should also mention the initial draft file still renders fine in Octane 1.12.

Many thanks for any advice!

Here's an image of the draft version - the newer version as mentioned is considerably heavier..

Minimum 1280x720 - Hopefully 1980x1080. I think it is a memory issue though as I can now get the first two floors working in octane. It fails when I add the 3rd floor.

2 floors mem is 0.67 /0.7
that's normal you don't have enough to complete the 3rd floor.
You should free some vram
- 1 single screen
- open GL display
- use instances

Thanks very much for your help bicket. I have the option of getting a gtx 580 tomorrow to swap for my gtx 570 - would that be a wise idea? or should I pair up with another 570?

you 'd better try to reduce your vram usage
gtx 570 has 1280 Mb and you only have 700 Mb available... half of you vram get lost somewhere

gtx 580 has 1500 Mb which is not that much.

I was wondering that myself. I presume windows needs it, though all I have is one monitor and only max open..
