heh, you beat us to it.
I was going to do the announcement on our site tonight, after the blendernation article has appeared.

Do note that brecht came to us after he saw our job ad, we did'nt steal him from blender development in any way.

Oh yes, just read the new on BlenderArtist...
... and Ton write: "He will be working on the very promising Octane renderer, wich caused many heads to turn at the last Siggraph expo". 8-)

Edit: maybe the name typo need be corrected in title...

Wow is the only word that comes to mind. I feel bad for Blender as he has been one if their biggest developers for awhile, but I am very happy to see him come to Octane. Wow.

I dont think so!
You can be sure that blender will be supported much more by Octane with Brecht!
Would be nice to see some Blender to Octane hair and particle renderings :P
Also, Brecht will continue to work on Blender in his freetime!
So Radiance give him some Freetime intervals ;)

You can be sure that the blender flag will be given to other uprising developers ( Mikaah, Farsthary, Letterip and so on.......)
The gap on Blender will be closed with Nicholas Bishop (he will be a fulltime blender developer!)

I hope so. Ton kept giving me crap at Siggraph asking when Octane would be able to read .blend files directly. Maybe someday. Ton was really supportive of Octane and really seemed to have fun playing with it.
