Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new version of OctaneRender™ for Maya®
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2013.5 / 32-bit & 64-bit on MS Windows operating systems.

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®. Materials from the Live DB are currently not available.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine
.

HOW TO PURCHASE LICENSES

Go to our online shop here: http://render.otoy.com/shop/

If you do not own an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition License yet:
You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 279€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® Beta License" priced at 99€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses,
just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.

OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.

CHANGES AND FIXES SINCE LAST RELEASE:
  • Added Panoramic Camera type.
  • Added "Fake shadows" attribute to Octane Specular Material.
  • Added Octane Dirt Texture.
  • Added new "Wireframe" mode to the "Info channel" kernel.
  • Added new PMC kernel option "Parallelism". It reduces the number of samples that are investigated in parallel, to make caustics appear earlier at the expense of some performance.
  • Fixed few Octane nodes attributes default values to be the same as in standalone version.
  • Now in IPR mode "Scatter" and "Movable proxy" meshes do not require render-reloading when changing material node connected.
  • Made the workaround of Maya's lack of unique IDs of objects: changed the behavior of tracking the uniqueness of objects names from the plugin side, to minimize the impact on the workflow. Now the plugin tracks the uniqueness of names only in IPR mode. And now it has the new setting in main Octane settings: "Change names to unique". If this checkbox is set, the plugin will not generate the error message and stop compilation, but will quietly change the non-unique object-names right during scene compilation for IPR render (you will see the warnings in the SE during compilation if it will happen). This checkbox does not affect the batch mode, as in this mode the plugin will not track the uniqueness of object names now, so it will not change the names to unique in batch mode even if this checkbox will be set.
  • Minor bug fixes...

Haha!! So coool!

Maybe I don't use it as intended though, but I think the dirt texture has no effect if the normals are not inverted? But it's a huge helper, it was my #1 requested feature.

Is roughness and other attributes set correctly?.. As I've mentioned in caption, I've fixed some default values of some attributes of Octane nodes to be the same as in current standalone, so some values may be not the same as earlier... Check it please...

Set your index to 0.
On the stand-alone for example, 1.3 is the default index.
Set it to 0 to have pure specular reflection (disabling fresnel)
