agree, thatcould be really interesting fewturea!
but for now, the workaround would be like this:
if You render let's say to some amount of samples/pix & save out the resulting image, but it's too noisy..
simply restart rendition later..render the same amount & stack two in PS =)
on the progressive refinement, simply crank the samples up to 64k & let it cook, .. save somewhere in the progress, but leave the render cookin'..

Hi, today i was thinking about another feature that would be nice :
in animation when using autofocus, focus can change radically from one frame to another, a feature for applying a "speed of focus adaptation" should be nice. Or may be i don't found it if it already exist ??
Indeed, i could use target focal point animation to simulate it, but sometime i love being lazy
Too, i don't know how to use skylight, and having a background that "do nothing" for lighting for exemple clouds, background plates (some times i just put them very far/very huge so they havent too much influence)... just using photoshop for that, but alpha with foliage aren't always an easy task with some very contrasted backgounds.
