Hi,

Are you planning to add an option for saving renders at 16 bit, rather than the current 8 bit. Can't see this in the spec's for V1.0?

Thanks

Rick

Hi,

It's on our list for the next version after 2.3 (the one coming next)

Yes, a float point version, hopefully openexr or similar would be really awesome. Extra kudos if you can throw in a depth and id pass into the mix.

Hi,

We will have 16bit openexr output. (tonemapped/normalized and not)
that should be enough for everyone right ?

I would really like to see full 32bit floating point Open EXR.
(but it's always goo to have the option to only output 16bit as well)

I dont know, we use float16/half here almost exclusively and have never honestly needed the full float versions.. We found that unless you are REALLY playing with contrasty lighting values it's just a ginormous waste of space (especially once you get into all the extra channels). Not to mention its brutal to use in comp software (we use nuke and DF here)

half would be awesome for a start (again, imo)

cheers

It would be extremely dissapointing to me if you did not support full 32 bit exr. I build Livesets for Newtek's XD Tricasters. This requires all renders to be output at full FP 32 and will not work with 16bit.
