I am creating an scene of the interior of a church and I have colored glass windows as the main source of light. I would like to have these to emitt light according to the texture color.
I was experimenting a bit with the emission nodes that are available, but I seem unable to reach my goal. I am confused especially by the texture emission node. The attributes include Efficiency, Power, Distribution, Orientation, and Sampling Rate. Where is one supposed to assign the texture? If I look at tutorials on octane standalone, I see graphs where 2D texture are attached to the node, but here I simply don't know where to plug it.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi mementomori000,
Yeah this is a little confusing. You connect your texture to efficiency. In the standalone this pin is labeled efficiency or texture, but in the Maya Plugin it is just labeled efficiency. It has been suggested in the past to change this but I suspect it has fallen through the cracks being quite a minor thing.

Thank you very much for the reply. I managed to get it working. I am surprised however by how low I have to set the power values to avoid getting fireflies everywhere. I guess I should do a level pass on my texture to tune them down. Are there guidelines? Also, power and sampling seem to do the same thing, though from the names I guess lowering the sampling should create more artifacts but be faster, correct?
This tutorial is for the standalone but the principals are the same for the maya plugin.
Skip to near the end for a texture emitter and explanation of the sample rate parameter.
