can import an Obj and then import a new model in same scene?

i have a question, can import an obj an then in that same scene import another obj or do i have to export the entire scene as one file ?

you merge your geometry in your 3d modeling application, then export to one OBJ file.

This workflow is really crippling for me, because I work on a car, then find I have to make adjustments to the model all the time and have to re export everything every single time.
Will this workflow change in the future?

I remember you saying in the future we would be able to move objects in the scene around but what about merging/deleting :)
