yeah & the biggest one in my eyes, is that stand alone will not see all the proxies scattered by forest pro.. if I'm right (but maybe something has been changed..) or You have everything export as mesh & that will probably lead to very big scenes..

well forest pro is a plugin as I know it /and see from inteface/ so.. this update allows You to to use it with Octane Render inside Your "host" program like 3ds max.
the problem here is that is a bit of a problem to export everything to stanalone (as far as I know)..but maybe others will give You more detailed answer on that or even disagree with my opinion.
