I am using Rhino to model and when i export an OBJ, i export in Millimeters! Thats normal in jewelry business!
My import settings in Octone are of course set to millimeters too. Have a look at picture o1:
So when the mesh is loaded i get a blank scree with a tttttiiiiiiiiiiinnyyyy blurry mesh. look at picture o2:
I have to zoom in a while until i get a picture that looks like o3. Completely wrong depth of field for sutch a small object. I have to set the aperture from 1 to about 0,1 until it is correct!
Also for me it seems the textures are not scaled right. When i take a material from the live database i allways have to scale it from 1 to about 5 until it looks right. Please have a look at o4 and o5:
Is this a normal behaviour or am i doing something wrong? In other render engines i use i export - import and everything fits perfectly. Could anybody help please??

The shallow depth of field is normal. In macro photography it is not uncommon to have a depth of field of only a few millimeters. If you are not sure if the scaling is right you can switch the camera to orthographic mode and see if the with of the camera (the scale slider) matches the size of the object.
It is normal to tweak materials from liveDB a bit, especially if they contain UV-mapped textures.

Those materials are created from users, so depending on the skill of the creator, they may be off.cfrank78 wrote:Hi Reoland!
Thanks for the answer. The small DOF is quickly corrected. But why do i have allways to zoom in so far and why are the textures wrong scaled if i use milimeter in rhino AND octane?

Plus, they make them based on the UVs of the model they are testing. If the scale of their UVs are different than yours, they won't look right.
