I'am considering to buy Octane (when Blender integration will be available). Is possible to use one license for interactive work on one computer and for final rendering on another without transferring license?
I mean following scenario: I have a laptop with GTX460M, which I will use for interactive work (I tried demo on it and it looks usable). Final renders I want to run on another machine (for example Cluster GPU Instance rented from Amazon EC2, but I have other options). For this workflow I need one full interactive version of Octane on my laptop and one command-line only version, capable only to load and render scene, on remote computer. Is this possible with single license?

I am using Octane on a Laptop and Desktop and deactivate / activate the license often to switch on the systems.
But with switching I must wait a hour (or half) before I can start final render on remote machine, true? And doesn't it mean, that I must pay one extra hour on remote machine when I'am switching license to it?
And with my current workflow (with Luxrender) I'am usually working on next image when the already finished one is rendering, this cannot be done with license switching.

You don't have to run the remote machine while you're switching license. You deactivate on your local computer, wait, and after 30min you activate on the remote machine.VaclavC wrote:But with switching I must wait a hour (or half) before I can start final render on remote machine, true? The rest of the above is correct. If you want to use OctaneRender on two computers at the same time you need two licenses.
Hopefully OTOY's cloud rendering isn't too far away, which then allows you do your final rendering there. The cost model isn't clear yet, but obviously you don't have to buy an additional license for rendering on the cloud.

So my possible workflow with Octane can be that I prepare all my scenes, wait 30 min and render them all in one session on remote machine.
Perhaps can Octane team consider to make available license with one full and one "slave" node? For example license to Indigo renderer works with one main and two slave nodes (if I remember it correctly, I cannot open their site right now, it looks down). This I mention only for comparison, I don't mean Octane slave as typical slave node similar to Indigo's or Luxrender's but simply command-line only mode of Octane incapable of GUI and interactive work.
Thank you both for your answers, in all cases, with possible purchase I'll wait for Blender integration and in this time may emerge some changes in this subject as well.

Check the prices. Indigo starts from 595 €. Octane has a very good price. If integrated blender version costs the same price as the other released you can buy an integrated and a standalone for the same money.

As I wrote indigo 3 starts from 595 € node license is 99€
