I did a search and couldn't find an answer to my question. I'm currently running Octane on one machine. Do I need to deactivate my license before installing a new version of Octane? I would probably uninstall old one then install new one as it comes out.

no need to worry about anything. Just install the new version and it will work with your license. No uninstallation or deactivation required :)

I myself was very unsure about this when I wanted to update to 1.02...

But quickly realized you just copy over exe and dat files into your octane folder. I made a backup folder first called octane_1.0 and put the old exe and dat files in there - then copied over 1.02... but they could/should mention this in the 1.02 thread.

Still launches from taskbar etc and runs perfect.. says activated.. all good. And 1.02 kicks ass. Shadow Catcher rocks!.. god, I love Octane.

In a perfect world, Octane lets you know (upon launch) that a new Release Candidate version is available -- asks if you want to give it a whirl - does the work for you and makes backup of of old version - with option to roll back. These things are not unheard of.

I just install it into a new folder each time and keep the old version in case I need it.
