I have been unable to find an exact answer in the forum, but I have found some that said there is only 50% difference which is quite disapointing.
I don't understand because the ratio should be 448 / 216.

I wanted to buy the gtx 470, but if this is true, I think it would be not worth to spend 350 euros for only 50% more speed under Octane.
I hope the gtx 470 is much faster than that.

not only is much faster, I haven't have time to test, basically cause since I got it last friday if been doing things I couldn't do before, the plus is that extra vram, it helps a lot, and even thou I've got it as secondary accordingly to Radiance navigation with it as primary is fluent which can not be said about my 260. If I have time over the weekend I'll try it.

Last night I swapped out my GTS 250 for a GTX 470.

The 470 was churning out samples at about 7x the speed of the 250.

7 times faster! This card is sweet! I know why everyone has one now!

i would definately swap out a 260 for a 470, the usage / experience is totally different,
and due to the different architecture, it will support more advanced stuff in the future, and we'e still more to optimize for this architecture, so speed will only go up.

Thank you for your replies.

I have ordered a gtx 470 this afternoon.

Once Received and installed, I will do some speed tests and report them here.

Will this still be true if you are using a 470 and a 260 side by side?

Things get weird when using different cards next to each other. If you're using the 260 for navigation only you will see Octane flying (using the 470 for rendering only). Adding the 260 to the rendering pool you should see a good increase (combing the 2 cards), but you will drop the available memory down to that of the 260. I'd rather throw a cheaper gts250 or even a 9600 for display only and throw the 260 into another system to increase rendering abilities.

All systems are at stock speeds and settings.
