I need to have an independant computer just to render sequences with octane , I work on max.
Anybody can explain me what do I need ? How it works ?

You will need a second computer, a second Octane licence and then you can use the command line functionalty to invoke Octane on that second PC.

so I need to install one the slave :
- 3dsmax demo for netrender
- buy and install an octane license
- pray that backburner run fine....
I'm right ?
I don't want to buy another computer for nothing....

I am also curious. It sounds like one would need an additional license of 3DS Max (the demo will expire after 30 days).
It would be nice if we could send render over a home network to additional machines without needing to install Max on them. Then we would just need an Octane node on each.

Max trial will not expire for backburner. You can't open it and do normal work with it after 30 days, but it will keep on working as a render node forever.
If Octane works via backburner - i don't know.
