The export plugin works very very slow. Even with more simple scenes it takes a very long time to export. For the complex scenes I waited even an hour and did not end the export process. If there are more than 64 image textures in the scene the plugin doesn't give a warning/error,just never finishes.I am now using a script for exporting obj. and export times are less than 2 minutes for complex scenes. Am I the only one with this problem ? Also if the scene has too many textures it would be nice if the plugin could merge some textures on a single map automaticaly.

I havent checked my number of image textures, but I probably use up a lot. What are your specs?

My specs are written in my signature. But it is not a performance related problem it is a cuda limitation I understand. Anyway my bigest problem is the enormous amount of time it takes to export the obj. file. Did you export succesfuly more than 64 texture images with the obj, and they all showed up in octane?

Sorry didnt notice your sig. As I said I havent counted textures, but I'm sure aive gone well over that (very dense interior scenes). It exports very fast and works fine in octane. I'm on an i7 cpu, and also my GPU has 3gb onboard

So, it seams I am the only one with this problem. Still don't have a clue what to do to fix this. It is the same on my laptop which is a new generation I5 processor gt550 video and 4g of ram. Do I have to own a rocket for the exporter to work decent? Is there a compatibility issue ?

Are you using the very latest version of this Exporter?
That reduces the number of unique textured materials it makes to resolve complex UV distortions etc.
It is also optimized for speed much better than some earlier versions.
I assume you have made some drastic UV-mapping to be getting any such issues...
What other OBJ exporter are you using successfully ?
The built-in pro OBJ-exporter will do a similar job but still make lots of unique textured materials where it has to...
Have you 'optimized' your SKP before running the exporter?
For example, 'purging' unused things and 'fixing problems' under Model Info > Statistics...
The scripted exporter will never be as quick a a compiled app, but I have exported and rendered scenes from large and complex models without issues...
How big is this SKP ?
How many faces are there?
How many materials are there?
What are its extents - e.g. is it very big, very tiny or not near the SKP's origin ?
Can you zip the SKP and PM it to me so that I can see what might be up ?
Many users are exporting and rendering complex SKPs without these difficulties, so it's probably fixable... once we find out what is wrong...

Yes I am using the last version.
No drastic UV mapping, just some aligned textures on walls.
I am using a older script, not the included exporter but the included one works ok too.
The files are purged and checked for errors.
I am starting to have problems with files from 15MB to about 100MB which is the largest I have ever produced.
Faces between 200 000 - 700 000
I am trying to keep the materials under 64 (when I have more than that the plugin never finishes) So I check the number of exported textures after the export.
The models I use are houses 1:1 scale so I would say they are medium size.
I will PM you one medium skp of my work.
