Hello to everybody ...
I have a question about texture mapping inside Octane. I want to know if it support texture projections, like plannar, cylindrical, cubic, etc ... or you need a UV mapped model. In archvis usually we work without UV mapping, using specially plannar and cubic mapping to apply the textures.

Hey Radiance,
If you have a different projection in your scene...cubic planar or cylindrical ...you can assign an UV mapping and octane get the UV perfectly.
So i use C4D and in my case for the most geometry i use the projections for the archviz scenes like cubic, planar and cylindrical and assign an uv in the second time.....(obviusly if the mesh is organic or have particular shape and texture....you need to unwrapp it)
I think also in modo and 3ds max is the same.
Also in the nurbs when make editable you take the uv coord.
I think is the same in others app 3d

Thanks, dont forget it, i think that it is a must for fast mapping of archviz scenes. Octane is really incredible fast and very powerful, with my 285 it is like a dream, but we need also get a fast workflow for scene and material management ... texture mapping without UV maps and material library support are really needed.radiance wrote:hi,
currently only UV maps, other projections will be added in the near future.

I agree on supporting projections, as I never do any UV
