I am mainly using Window Vista64 on my Mac Pro(2008 model) and looking for a possible way to use two GTX 480s on it.
I know that Mac OS doesnt support gtx 480 driver, but in my case, since i dont really go to Mac side,it wouldnt be a problem.
Only thing I am curious about is whether I could use Xpander to connect twoGTX 480s to my MAC with Vista running.
Theoretically it looks possible, but when it comes to reality...its always a different story...
anyone?
I asked this to CUBIX but no reply so far.
Vista64 running Mac Pro, Xpander is possible to use GTX 480?

I know Eric NV (cubix) has been extremely busy. He should get back to you soon, so don't worry. Octane licenses are tied to a single machine, so you can't go swapping them around. between laptop and desktop. I would imagine this shouldn't be a problem with running the cubix xpanders off of a mac, using vista (though I would suggest windows 7). Unfortunately I don't have a windows capable mac with any pcie slots otherwise I would test it for sure for you.

Which graphics cards are currently running in each Mac Pro, and what drivers are they operating with?Re: Vista64 running Mac Pro, Xpander is possible to use GTX 480?
I am looking to do this with 3 Mac pro's with possibly 6 gtx 480's(2 each).
Is this possible? I would like to know before I buy the licenses today?
Side note: Are license tied to the machine? Can they also be installed on a laptop?

Here is something I found on Apple's support site:
Remember to load the latest NVIDIA GeForce drivers for Vista first before attempting to install the Cubix and NVIDIA hardware under the Windows Vista partition.

Given the fact that there are no Mac drivers for GeForce 8 Series listed on the NVIDIA website, I will give a conditional "yes" to to the question posed by Carl and Joseetiger. Keep in mind that Cubix has not yet tested this configuration, but the information directly from Apple's Support site leads me to believe this will work for the GTX 480 cards.Dual Nvidia 8800's Set up.

I know this queation was discussed in other threads but I got confused as to which Mac Pro was being dscussed. So here it goes.
When my Mac Pro arrives I am going to install dual Nvidia 8800's. What slot do I use for the second card? I will also be installing Vista through Bootcamp.
I know the cards are SLI capable. Does the Mac or Windows support SLI? If so. how do you enable it? Any additional advice concerning anything is also welcome. I have always been a PC user since the release of Win95 and I am taking the leap.

The 8800s go in slots 1 and 2. Slots 3 and 4 don't provide enough power. Don't forget to connect the auxiliary power cables.

Joseetiger - Please use the following e-mail address when sending correspondence to Cubix: [email protected]. Sometimes, people use "[email protected]" or "[email protected]". Both are different companies who don't forward Cubix mail accidentally sent to them.

As long as 1 works you shouldn't have an issue with adding more, as long as you have pcie slots to support more and more.
