Hi all.

Since last week I'm the happy and sad owner of a new Nvidia GTX 480 card,....and Octane Render :)

First I had a hardware issue with my PC when I started up Octane my PC just turned off.
....the Power supply was not strong enough .....550W...
Now I bought a 850W and that issue was solved....I was happy again.

But now a other issue....when I start the render.. my Displays goes black after a minute or directly..... GTX 480 seems to turn off
but the PC is still running.
I have reinstalled the latest Nvidia driver... but still the same.

Now my question......

-Did someone of you had a issue like this and can you tell me how you fixed it?
-can it be that my PC / Hardware has not the right configuration...it not a new PC.

I could not find the Hardware requirement for the GTX 480.

I really would appreciate it if someone can help me.

Hi,

A 850w psu should be plenty enough for one 480gtx.
Maybe the card is overheating? Are you sure your case has a good airflow around it? Is the card very loud when rendering?

try using a tool to view what's going on, there's a free download of 'evga precision' that allows you to monitor temperature of your card etc...

HI

I tested the demo chees set object again.

I see that the GPU Teperature is on 108 C
the GPU usage 93%
Fan Speed 92%
Core Clock MHz 2021

So I think it is to high....right?

yeah, that's too high.

try adding an extra fan to your box, make sure you have good airflow.

no wonder you reached the shutdown limit with those temps.

This is one of the nice things about the cubix xpander boxes. It takes the cooling away from the PC entirely and I barely notice when the fans start to whirl on my gtx470's.

79-83° C on an overclocked 470 here.

Fermi cards are within spec up to 105° C.
