I see under the Diffuse material there is a Gradient option. I can not find any documentation of what it is and how to use it. The forum has a few entries that says it does not work. I am using this with Blender which has extensive support for gradient materials/textures. can anyone help?

A gradient texture node is a color mapping, like multiply or invert. It is like a function that outputs a different color depending on the input color. It is mainly supposed to be used with procedural textures (turbulence and others) as input.
