Hi, is it a stupid idea to buy 4 GTX 580 Hydrocopper and fit in the MAC PRO? (early 2008)
I know that the PCI bus speed doesnt really matter for octane render.and there is 5 pci slots available. And hydro version
Is low profile.
So here is my thought. Power them externally. Use external liquid cooling system
to just cool the GTX 580s.
I am currenly using two msi GTX580, 3g in my mac pro, one powered externally.
One of the is pluged at the 4x pci slot since the two 16x slots are too close to cool.
If the idea is feasible, i will replace them with hydro version.
Anyone?

Build a pc.
I think you would be better to build a special purpose renderstation rather than hack your Mac any more.
Get a decent mobo with 4x 8/16 pcie slots, heavy duty PS etc.
Perhaps save up some more $while you wait to see what Nvidia GTX680 are like.
