01) if you want to free up the first gpu vram in Max: Save your scene with bounding box visualization. Reopen the scene.
Nitrous engine eats a lot o vram.
02) With the sun and tiny light emitters in a scene cause noise, pump the sampling rate to avoid fireflies.
Ies lights now don't have this option.

Rendering with two instances of 3dmax now. First 50% of frames for 1and the other 50% for the other. This fills the export time very nice.
