Refractive PLEASE do something to block the spam.
How about having to enter a verification code for the public forum?
We have to have something even if it needs to be upgraded later.

Seriously; I hardly understand why this forum is the only one (I frequent) that is so much infested with spam. And why cant anything serious be done to counter it? Maybe now with additional money influx of the 3dsmax plugin, they will employ someone to patch the forum. Though I would rather see that money put in features - because spam can be ignored if you don't venture in the public forums (and many people, like me for example, don't even check out public forums like "news" & "demo" anymore, exactly because of this shit).

Whats the problem?

Everytime I enter the forum I press "View new posts". All new threads or last replies from names without color are ignored by me. Thats it.

That doesn't make it any better, we can ignore spam-looking posts, but demo users also display a black nickname and can ask questions etc...

It's the only forum I visit where this happens...

from a "deleters" position it's also no fun any longer. sometimes it feels like the forum is under selective attack (and i still wonder why nobody has sued that a**hole company with the uggly boots

). so i've deleted and banned a thousands posts and spammers within the last 2 months, and start getting seriously tired of it; especially because banning is useless. never the same ip address again. if you ever wanted to feel like sisyphos - just try to fight spam this way

now that the max plugin is done, i hope, no i BEG for they take some 2hrs time and improve the spam protection of the forum. it is no rocket sience at all...

I do appreciate the deleters voluntary work behind the scenes.

Thank you for your efforts but it also seems like unnecessary labours.
Surely it is not that hard for Refractive to put in some counter measures.

Even if it is only 80% effective it has to be a good thing.
I agree this is the worst forum I visit for spam infestation.
I mean the 'droppings' are everywhere all the time.
Spam, spam and more BLOODY SPAM.

I promise not to ask for any new Octane features for a whole month if they fix it..

I have actually started to visit the forum less often now because I am sick and tired of having to flag 10 threads as spam every time I come here. There have been times that I have seen new threads being posted as I have been marking old ones as spam. Perhaps RS needs more people with the power to delete, or at least hide, spam threads.

If something doesn't happen soon then my visits to the forum will be become less and less frequent. Which is a shame because I really love Octane and I love to see what people are doing with it but wading through pages of dross just to find one gem of a thread is becoming tedious.
