Hey, as said, you should try to solve the smoothing issues.
does sketchup support exporting of 'smoothgroups' ? is it somewhere in the export options for OBJ export ?
if it does, enable it, and enable use of smoothgroups in our import preferences, and you should have good edges (no more black ones)

i tried to smooth edges using the options you stated in sketchup
there is an icon called smooth planar edges in sketchup basically this rounds the edges that the only tool there is nothing in the obj export that relates to smooth groups. i did the adjustments in octane. i tried it on a simple model
what i keep getting is a black triangle on the edges when the material is white it doesn.,t happen on some of the models i import.
when i model in sketchup and then import my model i get black edges
is there something i am doing wrong.
i ve clicked the box in otance preferences smooth groups to see if this helps but no joy still get black edges as shown on circular computer desk anything i can do ?

if sketchup can't export smoothgroups and it can't split edges than you're out of luck.pm3d wrote:i tried to smooth edges using the options you stated in sketchup

the only thing you can do it to try to use different materials on non-round objects, like plates, walls, desks, etc,
and disable the 'smooth' on them in the octane material.
