If the development team wants to add support for another file format, thats great, but I am not seeing the need to do so. If another format is to be added, I would like to see .3DM, .STL, or .IGS - lets get some NURBS support going!
That would be a dream come true - being able to render NURBS data in OctanePhr0stByte wrote:If the development team wants to add support for another file format, thats great, but I am not seeing the need to do so. Allthough I use xsi which is autodesk's now and that means FBX, I vote for Collada just to support something that is away from the plague of autodesk.
that make's me think that Collada (via SketchUp free ) is the logic alternative.Refractive Software could have charged much more for the performance of Octane Render and sold to fewer people, but in these hard economic times, that wouldn’t do much for helping out smaller studios and individuals from having access to this powerful software. By keeping the cost lower, more individuals will have access to this power and will be able to generate more economic growth than if only a few were able to afford Octane Render.
Keep up good work

To be able to open .3DM would be fantastic . Would open up the NURBS world for Octane.Son Kim wrote:That would be a dream come true - being able to render NURBS data in OctanePhr0stByte wrote:If the development team wants to add support for another file format, thats great, but I am not seeing the need to do so. I would go for FBX, it's the preferred format in a Maya <---> 3DSMax workflow, it's been concieved by Alias|Wavefront, now owned by Autodesk. Its exuberant in its feature capabilities.
Win 7 64bits / Intel i5 750 @ 2.67Ghz / Geforce GTX 470 / 8GB Ram / 3DS Max 2012 64bits

RIB is Pixar's if I'm not mistakenInfoCentral wrote:I'd have to vote for Collada as most 3D programs are attempting to write to this format as a universal standard. The FBX is still basically a Autodesk format. If you go the FBX route then you will have two Autodesk formats to choose from RIB and FBX.
